Phareodus

Phareodus encaustus from Green River Formation in Wyoming, USA. It lived during the Eocene Epoch approximately 55 million years ago. This large fish is approximately 23 ½” on a plate measuring approximately 26” X 19”.  The preservation is unreal and there is excellent detail of the fins as well as the mouth. Many of the sharp teeth are prominently visible. There is also a small Knightia fossil fish specimen that fossilized on top of the Phareodus.
