This ammonite is approximately 35. cm (14”) in diameter, roughly centered in a 84 cm wide X 76 cm tall (33” X 30”) shale matrix. The ammonite and shale weigh approximately 77 kg. (170 lbs.). This is an extremely bright and beautiful matrix specimen with excellent shape in a very sculpturally appealing matrix. Very pronounced ribbing in the living chamber is highlighted with all the colours of the visible spectrum on display. From deep purples to rich reds and greens, this specimen has them all. This ammonite comes from the bottom of the Bearpaw formation in the Korite mine. Only in one small area of North America does one find this brilliant gemstone. Over millions of years, the nacre of the ammonite’s shell has been transformed to take on this wild range of iridescent colouring. It comes with a wood display stand and a certificate of authenticity. For international shipping, all customs paperwork is included. This specimen is registered with the Government of Canada and leaves the country with all the required permits and documentation.
