Ammonite #26(1170) Placenticeras costatum. Measures approximately 46 cm. (18.13″) in diameter. This ammonite displays excellent shape and has amazing colour on both sides. Ranging from reds, oranges, golds, greens and some of the rare blues. The ammonite also shows ribbing on both sides from the growth process, accentuating the colours. Along with the presence of visible tubercles on the one side. This ammonite comes from the top of the Bearpaw formation at the Korite mine. Only in one small area of North America does one find this brilliant gemstone. Over millions of years, the nacre of the ammonite’s shell has been transformed to take on this wild range of iridescent colouring.
