Canadian Ammonite 17(1080)
Placenticeras costatum. This ammonite measures approximately 53 cm. (21”) in diameter in a natural rock measuring approximately 93 cm. X 76 cm. (36 ½” X 30”). It is a very striking matrix ammonite with good shape and very bright colours throughout. It displays extremely bright colours throughout including reds, oranges, golds, greens, and quite a lot of the rare blues and purples. This ammonite comes from the bottom of the Bearpaw formation at the Korite mine. These are the layers where the best ammolite gemstones are found. Only in one small area of North America does one find this brilliant gemstone. Over millions of years, the nacre of the ammonite’s shell has been transformed to take on this wild range of iridescent colouring. It comes with all hanging hardware, brackets and anchors and a certificate of authenticity. For international shipping, all customs paperwork is included. This specimen is registered with the Government of Canada and leaves the country with all the required permits and documentation.
