Ammonite #12(1293) Placenticeras costatum. Measures approximately 24 X 26 cm. (9.45 X 10.24. This ammonite is one of a kind, meaning that while it is not a whole ammonite, on the back side the inner portion of the ammonite is exposed. Appearing as a smaller ammonite with amazing shape. This smaller, 17.5 cm. (6.89”) in diameter, center part of the ammonite has equally excellent and bright colours. The entire ammonite colours range from reds, oranges, golds, greens and even the rare blues and purples. The ammonite displays ribbing from growth along with visible tubercles. This ammonite comes from the top of the Bearpaw formation at the Korite mine. Only in one small area of North America does one find this brilliant gemstone. Over millions of years, the nacre of the ammonite’s shell has been transformed to take on this wild range of iridescent colouring. It comes with a wood display stand and a certificate of authenticity. For international shipping, all customs paperwork is included. This specimen is registered with the Government of Canada and leaves the country with all the required permits and documentation.
