This smaller, 17.5 cm. (6.89) in diameter, center part of the ammonite has equally excellent and bright colours. The entire ammonite colours range from reds, oranges, golds, greens and even the rare blues and purples. The ammonite displays ribbing from growth along with visible tubercles. This ammonite comes from the top of the Bearpaw formation at the Korite mine. Only in one small area of North America does one find this brilliant gemstone. Over millions of years, the nacre of the ammonite’s shell has been transformed to take on this wild range of iridescent colouring.
